Hi everyone! I'm pretty new to the forum and am a huge fan of Axis Football. I'm very excited for Axis 17 and am a fan of Axis 16, but like everyone I think that it has areas it needs to improve. Obviously 16 was a huge step up from 15, and 17 looks like a huge step up from 16 so far. The news of Dan Stevens being the play-by-play guy for the game is HUGE. And the new player models look great as well. In regards to my wishlist for this game and games going forward, here's what I think:
PRESENTATION
New commentary is big, but presentation needs to be improved across the board. New camera angles would be big, and it would also be cool to see some cinematic camera work to add to the realism.
Make the game's presentation feel more like a broadcast. A cool way to do this would be to maybe have something like an "Axis Sports Network" that would be for every game. Have a lead in to the game describing the match up and key players, rather than just jumping right into a game.
The crowd is actually pretty lame for the most part. I know it's probably very difficult to make a realistic crowd, especially for an indie company only in its third year, but a better crowd would be neat.
All players look and feel the exact same. Different ball carrier styles for bigger guys, athletic guys, tall guys, stocky guys would be cool. Also a better QB stance and throwing style is much needed.
Please make characters more customizable. Must have more gear and options.
An option for professional or collegiate atmosphere would be SO COOL.
Player celebrations and interactions.
GAMEPLAY
Gameplay is definitely the most important part of a football game and definitely where Axis needs the most improvement.
Pursuit angles are pretty silly in the game. Players seem to run right behind the ball carrier and follow him to the end zone resulting in a huge conga line.
There are literally no catch animations. Even simple catch animations would go a long way.
Line play is almost non-existent. It's impossible to run between the tackles because the linemen just stalemate and you can't run through.
New tackle animations that work would be nice. The current animations basically consist of guys running into each other and then falling down.
More strategy: Deeper playbooks, real zone coverage, offensive styles and schemes,
Impact players presence should be felt. Make the studs play like studs.
FRANCHISE
Customization is huge. Being able to edit the league name, number of teams, conference names, playoff or bowl system, bowl names, number of teams in playoff.
Option for drafts or for recruitment.
Fun simulation. Since gameplay is hard to perfect, especially for an indie company, make the franchise mode fun to simulate. Deep stats, full control simulations and coaching options, awards for players and coaches.
