For any franchise mode, the football players will need actual and potential attributes for their skills.
Players will also need a way to improve by training camps and decline by injuries and age.
It would be best to be able to modify these files, but it would be a good idea to hide potential skills from the game players. This would make the game more realistic.

What I meant by hide potentials would be to include them in a file that is modifiable, but those who choose not to dig into the spreadsheet files will not see the potential of the players. That would allow late draft picks to become better than some early picks, and it will also allow for draft busts.
Jack Rabbit may look like a great draft bet because he has good actual stats, but he could bust because he has low potentials.
Mac Turtle may go late because his actual stats are not good enough for him to start, but his high potentials could make him a better player later on.
If one wanted the game to be more realistic, one wouldn't even list stats as numbers. Of course, they would be numbers in the spreadsheet, but they would not look like that to the game player.
